As well as having an exciting visit from a theatre company this week Year 3 have been visiting a local ‘double monastery’ near Maldon that has a community of both monks and nuns: On the 6th of October 3L went on a trip to St. the John Baptist monastery. When we arrived the sisters showed us a beautiful mosaic of Noah’s Ark and all the animals in pairs except for the dove on it’s own. We thought it was the one that went to look for land for Noah. After we had a break with chocolate biscuits and questions, we went to the main church to learn about the ways the nuns and monks used to paint with wax and eggs. It was a fascinating day and we learnt a lot about life in the monastery.
