As the Royal Family and top politicians gathered at the Cenotaph in Whitehall for a memorial service, our Year 6 children gathered outside Witham’s memorial. It was a naturally somber affair as they laid their wreath but an important time to remember not just the people who died in the wars but to give thanks for the peace that we now have within our country.
Within school a 2 minute silence was held at 11 o’clock followed in the
afternoon by an act of remembrance in assembly. We raised £147 for the Royal British Legion from the sale of poppies. Thank you for your generosity.
Over this half term we are continuing to think about the Christian Value of Peace in our lead up to Christmas.
