More about our Governors

Will Abbott (Co-opted governor/Chair)

I am new to governing at Howbridge but have some recent experience of being a governor at another school in the Witham area.  I work as Pioneer Minister with the Witham and Villages Team Ministry at St Nicolas Church.  My ministry is varied, and includes leading school assemblies and worship services at Howbridge and also working closely with other schools across the town.  I have lived in Witham for most of my life and remain committed to helping children and adults alike to fulfill their God-given potential.

Lisa Hart (Parent Governor)

I became a Parent Governor in 2018, having experienced first hand the commitment of the teachers and staff to ensuring the children enjoy their time at HJS and get the best out their education. I live locally with my husband and three children, all of whom have attended HJS – with two currently in year 3 and year 6.

As a governor I aim to support the school to deliver high standards of teaching and learning to prepare our children for a happy, healthy and fulfilling life. With a background in communications and community engagement, I am passionate about active and meaningful engagement and involvement with parents and carers, and the wider community.

Linda Crowther (Foundation governor)

I am the St Nicolas PCC nominated foundation governor.

I am a regular communicant at St Nicolas Church and I am involved in many of the different activities and initiatives that take place within the church community. I am retired now, but in my previous occupation I worked in the quality department at Harlow FE College and a large part of my role involved supporting the Lecturers and Tutors to improve and maintain quality teaching for all students across the college.

I live near Ongar and am fully committed to my role as part of the Local Governing Body at Howbridge Junior School.

Andy Packer (Co-opted governor)

My work experience is in business, both for a large UK corporation and, more recently, for my own company. I have been a Governor at the Witham Secondary Schools, Maltings and New Rickstones Academies, including a period as Chair.
I also act as a Business Mentor for young people who wish to start their own businesses under the Prince’s Trust Enterprise Scheme.’
